Vintage Jesus

I have been having a blast with this series VINTAGE JESUS.  I truly believe that so many times we do not have a clear and defined picture of who Jesus is to us and it hurts our relationship with God.  So many times we define our relationship with God based on the relationships we have had here on earth.  The problem with those comparisons is that so many of our relationships here on earth are screwed up.  Think about it, the world would be perfect if people were not involved but they are, and we mess stuff up.  God on the other hand is perfect and he does not mess anything up.  So you can see how by having an unclear or undefined relationship with God our natural tendency is going to be to compare him to the best person we know and they always fall short.

The better the understanding we have of who Jesus is and who he is not is going to help us live more fully devoted to Him.  I love when Jesus asks his disciples, “Who do you say I am?”  It is the question that you and I need to continually ask ourselves, “Who is Jesus to me?”

Is He your SAVIOR?

Is He your HEALER?

Is He your REDEEMER?

Is He your HOPE?

Is He your FRIEND?

Who is Jesus to you?

Car Guy

I love cars.  It is one of those downfalls that I have in life.  I particularly like fast cars but am enjoying the Jeep Wrangler that I drive.  I saw this video about a minivan, now I know that no car person should ever like anything associated with a minivan but I have got to share this with you.

Status Quo

Do you ever have those days where you are just not satisfied with anything?  It doesn’t matter how good it was or is, it just is not good enough.

I seemed to be trapped in that day today.  I was looking at this blog site today and am just tired of it.  It is a great wordpress blog that has had a lot of thought and time put into it but it is just boring to me.  I believe that it is time for a change.  I have been feeling this way for quite some time but instead of doing something about it, I have just been content with the status quo.  I have allowed the easiness of not doing anything to keep me from doing what I know I should be doing.

I find that this happens in my life a lot.  God is messing with me about an area of my life that isn’t necessarily bad or wrong but could be better.  Instead of doing something about that area, I am just complacent and allow it to continue down the path that it is already headed.  I can continue down that path and nothing bad is going to happen but at the same point, nothing great is going to happen either.  I am tired of living a complacent lifestyle in some areas.  It is time for a change.

Where are you complacent in your life right now?

What areas of your life do you need to change even though the status quo is just fine right now?

What are you going to do?

Confessions of a Pastor- Part 5

I know that because pastors get up on stage every weekend and talk about the Word of God that everyone thinks that we are the most secure people in the world and that nothing really hurts us.  We are these indestructible forces who need to perform up to par week in and week out.  We can never say the wrong thing, do the wrong thing, in essence we have to be perfect.

One of the things that I struggle with is that I hope that every weekend that people like what I communicate.  I determine for some reason that the amount of praise I get determines my value.  I don’t know why I think this way, but actually I do.  The reason why is that just like most people out there, I am insecure.  I allow my perceived value and worth to be determined by others.  I know that it looks like I have it all together because I talk about the issues of everyday life and how to handle them according to God’s Word, but the reason I know how to handle them is cause I am going through them myself.  I am not indestructible, perfect or got it all together.  I am just normal and trying to figure it all out.  I am self conscience and struggle with not having it all together.

This Weekend

I am so jacked up for this weekend at Coastal Community Church .  I love the series that we are doing right now called UNWRITTEN.  It is so important for our walk with Christ that we get a vision of where we are going in life so we can make decisions based on the direction we are suppose to go.  It is so easy to get caught up in the busyness of life and lose track of where we are and where we are going.

This weekend is going to be incredible.  We have some things planned that are going to knock your socks off.  I am going to be sharing a principle that has transformed my life personally and I believe will help guide you in relationships.  You do not want to miss what is going to happen.  I want to encourage you to invite a friend or three or thirty three because this weekend is going to be transforming.

Can’t wait to see you this Sunday, February 21st at Monarch High School at 10am.
