Less than 2 Weeks!!!

This past weekend was amazing. The Dream Team went in and set up Monarch High School for the first time and turned it from a school into a church. It was hard and tiring but invigorating at the same point. I think the highlight for me was at the end when we let the worship team get up and play a couple of songs on our new sound system. It was great to hear all of their hard work paying off in the sound quality of their musicianship but what really got me was to not just see them playing but seeing them worshiping.

I know that God is up to something BIG here in Coconut Creek, Florida. God just seems to be orchestrating opportunity after opportunity for us to reach out to people in our community. I am reminded of the verse in 2 Chronicles 7:14
“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and will heal their land.”

I believe that we have been called by God to humble ourselves, pray and seek after God that he will hear our prayers and forgive sins and heal peoples lives.  That is what this church is all about.  We are about bringing people back to the heart of God and I believe that his heart is for people who are far from him.

Over the next 2 weeks we have tons of outreaches planned, lots of things to get ordered in order to get ready for September 13th at 10am and a practice service this weekend for our Dream Team.  Please be praying for us for a couple of things:

  1. We need to purchase a projector that is not in our budget that will cost $6500.
  2. Our direct mail piece is being sent out to 72,219 homes this week advertising our church and new series Paralyzed?.
  3. We are starting to receive calls on some local magazine advertisement we did and that we would connect with people.
  4. Our team is working really hard, that they would have peace and strength throughout this process.
  5. That we would have wisdom in every decision that we are making here in final preparations for the launch.

Thank you for all your prayers, encouragement and financial support for Coastal Community Church.

Less Than 3 Weeks from Launch

Costal Community Church Logo FINALI am so excited about this weekend.  We are going to be setting up Monarch High School this weekend for the very first time.  We will be trying to work out all the kinks in our setup and tear down so that when we launch the church on September 13, 2009 everything will be perfect and ready to go.  This past 2 weeks we have been receiving shipments of equipment for our sound system, boxes full of envelopes, bulletin shells, info cards and all kinds of other goodies that I can’t tell you about or it would ruin the surprise of being at the first service.  Did you know that we are a little over 2 weeks away from our launch?

I want to thank everyone for their prayers, encouragement and their financial support.  Without these things Coastal Community Church would not be happening.  If you haven’t gotten involved and you would like to there are numerous ways that you can partner with us to reach this community for Christ.

  1. You can Pray, Pray and then Pray some more.
  2. If you know someone in the Ft. Lauderdale area, please invite them to visit our church on Sept. 13 or our website.
  3. You can move here and be a part of our Dream Team. (I know this one is a bold move)
  4. You can give financially.

Thank you again for your support of Coastal Community Church, we are Loving God, Loving People and Showing It.

BEST WEEK EVER!!!

Coffeeimages

I have had one of the best weeks so far since I moved to Ft. Lauderdale almost 3 months ago.  I don’t know about you but I get pumped up when I have the opportunity to make a difference in peoples lives.  This week we have had 2 different outreaches so far with a third coming up this Saturday morning.  We started the week off with a breakfast on Tuesday morning to the staff of Monarch High School, where Coastal Community Church will be meeting.  It was so awesome to cater in Panera Bread and serve the teachers and administration.  We made it to where they did not have to throw away a plate or come and get a refill of coffee, we were there to just serve.  The reaction was overwhelming, they were blown away by our friendliness, helpfullness and servants attitudes, in fact some of them said they wanted to check out the church just because of the breakfast and how we treated them.

On Thursday morning we also had the opportunity to help new students move into Florida Atlantic University right around the corner from us in Boca Raton.  I had no idea how many students attended this college until we showed up, but let me just say it was a ton.  For 5 hours we moved in students to their new residence for the next 9-12 months.  These were freshmen who were off to college for the first time, excited but yet scared at the same point about venturing off on their own.  It was great to take what would have been 10 trips up and down flights of stairs to 3rd, 5th and 7th floor rooms and turning them into one with our team.  We made it easy on them to get adjusted to their new surroundings and made a stressful task of moving in quite easy.  It was great showing God’s love to students through the act of moving them into their rooms.

The best part about both of these days of serving was that in each case I convinced someone to come out and serve with us who did not really want to serve.  At the end of both of these outreaches they would come up to me and be like, I felt like I had to come and do this but I am so glad I did, this was so much fun coming out and helping people and making a difference in their lives.  The thing about being a Christ follower is that it is not about us but others.  I love it in Matthew when Jesus says “I did not come to be served but to GIVE my life as a ransom for many.”  I think that so many times we want God to do for us when really He is calling us to GIVE to others.  I am so proud to say that at Coastal Community Church we are all about giving to others.  We are about making Jesus famous in our community and showing people God’s love in a practical way through random acts of kindness.

If you would like to get involved in serving the community there is an opportunity to do that this Saturday, August 22 at 9am.  We will be meeting at the Coastal Community Church offices located at 5760 Wiles Road, Coral Springs, Fl 33067.  We would love for you to come out and show God’s love to others through some free gum and blowpops at Sabal Pines Park with us.  If you would like to join us please meet at our offices and come share the love.

An Amazing Week

This week has been amazing.

  • We finally finalized our contract on Monarch High School and signed our lease this week.
  • We also started to receive our sound system in the mail that we ordered last week.  I didn’t really think that I would get excited about a sound system because that is typically what the worship leader gets all geeked up about but I am pumped about it.
  • We had an awesome Dream Team meeting where we had at least 3/4 of our team at together (which is a first) and we started to dream what our first service would look like from children to hospitality to the inside of the auditorium.  We started to talk about all the systems and processes we need to have in place in a little over 4 weeks from now.
  • We made a big dent in the $50,000 we still needed to raise when we received close to $7,000 in the mail this week and through online giving (thanks to all those who gave)!
  • I got to have a great conversation with a guy who came to our Informational Meeting on Tuesday who was far from God and is interested in checking out our church some more.
  • Ordered all of our letterhead, envelopes, business cards, bulletin shells and finalized our first direct mail piece that is going out to 75,000 homes.
  • Got invited to write for a local magazine in their God Squad column about life, church and God that goes in over 100,000 homes.

God is doing some BIG things down here in Ft. Lauderdale and I am so excited to see what other GREATER THINGS he has in store for Coastal Community Church on September 13th at 10am as we launch this life-giving church.

I would love for you to get involved if your interested, and their are two ways of doing that:

I would love for you to partner with us in launching Coastal Community Church September 13, 2009.
